For nearly 30 years I have been coaching people in nutrition, fitness, weight management, stress management, smoking cessation, and alcohol management.
Helping people change their behaviors and develop healthy habits is my passion.
I have a degree in Health Education and have trained with the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I am also a freelance writer. I write about health, fitness, sustainable living, and plant-based nutrition for several websites. Samples of my published writing can be found at debingram.com.
What being plant-based mean to me…
For me, going plant-based was a transition that started as an experiment, but quickly became an obsession– I wanted to learn everything I could about plant-based nutrition.
In the beginning, I did not proclaim that I would “never” eat animal foods again, as I felt this was a good way to set myself up for failure. Instead, when I really craved something, I ate it. I continued to occasionally have meat, fish, or dairy, but my desire for these foods gradually tapered off, partly because the plant-based meals I was eating were so delicious and partly because I felt so amazing on plants!
My energy level became higher– I no longer got that 3:00 pm slump. I started sleeping more soundly and therefore found I needed less sleep. I didn’t have mood swings and felt happier. I stopped getting the bi-annual rhinitis attacks that caused me to be sick for weeks at a time.
All of those effects have continued to this day, years later, and I have not been sick once since going plant-based.
I feel joyful all the time…and I want to share that feeling with you!
The best way to avoid craving “bad” foods is to always have something delicious and healthy available. I enjoy a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, beans, grains, nuts, and seeds that is never boring and always satisfying.
I know how hard it is when you are working, studying, or sharing your food and mealtimes with others. My goal is to teach you the how-to’s and life hacks to make it easier to eat healthily.
You don’t have to be plant-based to work with me, you need only to have a goal of adding more whole plant-foods to your diet and to improve your overall health.
